In our inaugural year, we had Team Gazo faceoff against Team Dullard. A beautiful Friday July 12th morning had the participants congregate to the opening course of the tournament, Heritage Hills Golf Club. The choice for first pick was decided by a closest-to-the-pin putt between captains. The outcome landed Team Dullard first pick and Team Gazo with 2nd & 3rd picks. Team Dullard went with the projected #1, Weidner. Gazo followed with Terry & Crane. Dullard countered with Van Dyk. The final two picks, Bell to Gazo and Ashton to Dullard.

Squads set, the showdown was set to begin, Gazo (Terry, Crane, Bell) vs. Dullard (Weidner, Van Dyk, Ashton). Round 1 offered up just one point for the overall competition (Ryder Cup style). The single point likely went to Team Gazo. Of the remaining 6 points, 2 would be won during round 1 and 4 during round 2 of Saturday's play.

After the round was complete, the squad headed north to Minden to settle into accommodations. After much discussion, the pairings were set for the back-to-back rounds at Taboo Muskoka Golf Course. An early 8:00/8:20 am tee-off for the groups after a nice warm up on the range. Bellsy's golfer's elbow was nearing peak soreness, but he soldiered on. Pace of play was a little slower than usual, but the crew had a quick layover of 20 minutes before the 1:40/1:50 pm tee-off. The final result came down to the last couple of holes, but at the end of play, Team Gazo had the majority of the 7 points and solidified his victory.
